How It Works
How long does it take to get up and running?
It all depends on your current situation. Usually we'll get clients up and running in 7 to 10 business days. If your business requires significant catch up work, it may take longer.
Can I use my existing QuickBooks Online account?
Yes. To have access to your books, we will ask you to add EVZO as an "Accountant" level user to your existing account. We'll also pay for your QuickBooks Online license, as it's included in every bookkeeping package we offer.
I am behind with my books. Can you help me get caught up?
Yes! We can import your previous transactions and get your books in order. We typically offer a discount from the regular monthly price for our catch up service. Contact us to get a personalized quote.
Do I need to deliver my receipts and other documents in person?
No. We'll set up integrations to obtain your financial transactions directly from your bank. We'll also ask you to send us your digital bank statements on a monthly basis to reconcile your books and ensure complete accuracy.
You'll need to keep your paper receipts on file in case of an audit by the government.
As an additional service, we can set up a digital receipts management system for your business. All you'll have to do is snap a picture of your receipts to store them digitally. Audit support is included with this service.

What's the difference between accrual and cash based bookkeeping?
Under the accrual method, you have to report income in the fiscal period you earn it, regardless of when you receive the amount for payment. You can deduct allowable expenses in the fiscal period that you incur them, whether or not you pay for them in that period. Cash bookkeeping only looks at when money enters or leaves a bank account. Generally, you have to report business income using the accrual method of accounting. According to Canada Revenue Agency rules, only farmers, fishers and self-employed commission agents can use the cash based method.
What's the difference between bookkeepers and accountants?
A bookkeeper's and an accountant's responsibilities sometimes overlap. But in general, a bookkeeper’s primary task is to record transactions and keep your books organized and up to date, while accountants provide financial analysis, and are more qualified to advise on tax matters.
Do you file income tax reports for my business?
We coordinate with a tax preparer of your choice and hand off accurate and up-to-date year-end reports to them. Working with your tax preparer and answering any questions they may have is included in your bookkeeping package.
How are your services priced?
Our services are priced based on the average monthly expenses of your business. These include payroll, cost of goods sold (COGS) and other business expenses. The owner's draw is excluded from this calculation. In our experience, monthly expenses is a good indicator of the amount of work we can expect to perform every month while having the advantage of being simple to calculate. Your initial bookkeeping package will be determined by averaging the last six months of your business expenses.
Do I have to sign a long term contract?
No. Your subscription will continue until the end of your billing cycle. If you decide not to renew, you can let us know in advance and we’ll stop billing you.
Will my bookkeeping package be adjusted if my expenses increase?
We perform a review every six months. Your monthly bookkeeping package will be adjusted based on your average expenses for the previous six months as per our pricing table.
Will annual pre-payment lock in my price?
Prepaying significantly reduces your costs. It locks in a potentially less expensive bookkeeping package and provides an additional discount over month-to-month pricing.
Do you charge any other fees other than the monthly package price?
Yes, there may be a one-time onboarding fee to get your business set up with the right software and workflows. The fee varies based on the complexity of the setup required for your business. You may also choose to add additional services such as payroll support, receipts management, timesheets, etc. Please contact us for a personalized quote.
